Empowering Safety in the Wild: Wilderness Emergency Response Training by Zara Adventures and ParkDoctor of Tanzania

Zara Adventures Tanzania, in collaboration with ParkDoctor of Tanzania, recently conducted an intensive Wilderness Emergency Response Training to equip guides, porters, and rangers with essential life-saving skills. The training focused on handling medical emergencies in remote areas like Mount Kilimanjaro, Conservation areas and national parks.

About the Training:

The Wilderness Emergency Response Training covers a range of essential skills, including:

  • CPR and First Aid in remote settings
  • High-altitude sickness recognition and treatment
  • Evacuation planning and communication
  • Dehydration, hypothermia, and trauma care
  • Scenario-based simulations

Led by expert instructors from ParkDoctor, who specialize in mountain medicine and wilderness healthcare, the training provides both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

A Shared Vision for Safer Adventures:

“Safety is at the core of our operations,” says a representative from Zara Adventures Tanzania. “Partnering with ParkDoctor allows us to enhance the competency of our teams and build greater trust with our clients from all over the world.”

ParkDoctor of Tanzania adds:

“We’re proud to support Zara Adventures in this initiative. As tourism grows, it’s critical that we train those on the frontlines to be skilled first responders.”

Impact on the Ground:

Over the past months, dozens of Zara Adventures’ staff have completed the training, making them not only expert guides but also capable first responders. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to sustainable tourism that values both people and nature.

Looking Ahead:

With plans to expand the program to other tour operators and national park teams, this training marks a significant step in raising health and safety standards in Tanzania’s tourism sector.
